develOOp another fine develOOpment

I just managed to upgrade my drupal installation to drupal5.0beta2.
I had some issues with the site not displaying correctly and throwing page not found errors.
So i installed it again in a subdirectory of my currentsite. ie. develoop.be/drupal5.0/ and there everything was ok.
So i pulled out my favourite compare tool to compare develoop.be/drupal5.0/ vs. develoop.be/
NO differences! (except for the obvious difference of $base_url in settings.php)

After googling around 20 minutes i finally figured it out.
I forgot to copy the .htaccess file which was hidden by a filter in my compare tool. Copying over that file fixed al my issues.

Deze keer gaan we ineens voor een volle dag en een goedgevulde agenda. Ik zie ernaar uit om meer feedback te krijgen over echte use-cases en om wat te discussieren met drupal gebruikers.

Als je zelf geinteresseerd bent om langs te komen, maak een drupal.be user account aan schrijf je in!

I finally managed to finish my thesis to get my Master's degree in IT. It is titled "Can open source exchange my world?" and deals with open standards and exchange protocols to share information like address-books, calendars, etc..
It also briefly touches issues like security and open sources licenses.

I will be attending the Drupal Conference in Brussels/Belgium. I'd like to do some more web-application building using drupal so I hope to meet some interested parties over there, and in the meantime learn a the new and cool features for the next 4.8 / 5.0 release.

Finally took time to install the vista beta2 om my new Dell M65 machine.
Since this is still in beta, i wouldn't want it to corrupt my smoothly running XP environment.
Started looking for some free windows app to split my 60GB disc in equal parts. Both Aragon's PM and Powerquest's Partition Magic Trial version don't allow Saving the changes made to the disc partition. So i had to turn to the other (linux) side and get me fresh copy of the 30MB GParted LiveCD. Download, Burn, Restart and Resize me disc and SNAP 12 minutes later (yes i clocked that) my system was ready for the Big Leap Forward. Inserted Vista Beta2 disc and SNAP 2h20 minutes later the 'nice' Vista Desktop was ready to show off. Why the quoted 'nice'? Apparently Vista did not have a clue of my stunning graphics card drivers. Downloaded the Quadro FX 350M Nvidia drivers and followed the steps listed at geekswithblogs. Restart and Changed my Display settings to the Aero theme. Hello Glazed World (not related to that other glazed java stuff).

Two weeks ago i complained about fastmail.fm's backup service. Lucky lucky me. They managed to restore my mails! A week or two back you contacted us about having some emails you lost restored. Well we've finally managed to get back online a volume which has a copy of our backups from about 3 weeks ago. As I remember, it was your ### folder that you needed restored. If you login to your account, you should see a new folder "restored" and within that an ### folder that should contain the restored emails. Let me know if there's anything else you need, because we'll soon be removing these old backups to replace with a new set that will contain data from this week onwards.

Het is misschien puur patriotisme maar wel leuk om te denken dat een recente beslissing van de Belgische regering er waarschijnlijk heeft toe bijgedragen dat Microsoft zijn plannen voor het ondersteunen van het Open Document Formaat (ODF) heeft bijgestuurt.

Hilarious. Especially if you are, like me, in your thirties.
